Internationals

Vancouver is one of the most culturally diverse cities in Canada and in the world, attracting people from all over. Yet, when a person or family has newly arrived, the barriers of language and loneliness can make the city seem daunting. The Internationals Ministry at FBCas a community following Jesus with a heart for the city and beyond—seeks to help people overcome these barriers by living out the hospitality of Jesus and providing a sense of home.

The primary expression of our life together is our Friday evening gatherings—a place of community based upon food, fun, and friendship. At each gathering, we practice conversational English, helping people who have relocated to Canada to develop this vital skill.  A variety of content is discussed from week to week: Scripture study and Christian testimonies; as well as films, books, music, and current events. We also regularly welcome guests speakers, whether from the church or the city at large, to share their insights on life in Canada. Finally, from time to time, we go "Out and About" in the city, exploring new sights and smells, tastes and treats. In all these things, we discover more about our spiritual lives, who Jesus is, and the difference that He makes in our lives.

If you have recently moved to Canada, or have lived here a long time and simply hope to practice your English, we invite you to participate in these gatherings on Fridays, 7-9pm in Pinder Hall. Please enter through the Red Door in the alley of the church, by the YMCA. Before attending for the first time, do check out our Facebook Page, to see our activity for that week. If you would like more information, please contact Stuart Campbell.

We hope you might feel at home amidst our growing international community!
